me in paint

About a month ago, I received an absolutely beautiful gift in the mail. As I pulled the heavy frame out of the box, I gasped with awe to find a painting of one of my self portraits. I have admired the art produced from this fabulous artist, shades of joan for some time now and I adore that she did this for me and I adore that I have a piece of me and a piece of her hanging on my wall. What an incredibly special gift.

I have waited to blog about this because I knew from our telephone discussion about all things art and life that she was going to take a chance with her art and move to that next brave step of sharing her art with the world. This weekend, Joan opened up her etsy store with a few very beautiful expressive pieces. I look forward to seeing her store grow and develop as she opens herself up to the artist inside of her.

Congratulations on your etsy store my beautiful friend and thank you again for gifting me with such a beautiful piece. I started doing self-portraits in part to discover my own beauty and to have someone come along and take that beauty that I found and turn it into a work of art … I have no words, only gratitude.

Oh my…that is truly beautiful. What a special gift. Beautiful! And to have the photos of the creation of it…

Wow she is talented, hey?

I love the frame, too. It really adds to it without overshadowing it.

Thanks for sharing it, and her website…

It’s perfect! Wow! So simple, beautiful and so you. I’m amazed, Joan is such a great artist and so sensitive to the spirit of the person. That is one of my favourite self portraits of you, the peace and the buddha smile it always reminds me of. The magic dormant. Beautiful. :) xoxo
